TIPS AND INFORMATION ON THE INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

CockpitCube V2.0 is distributed only via Internet through a download manager application called CockpitCubeWebInstaller V2.0. The reason why we don’t distribute the CockpitCube setup packages on a CD is that in any given moment a new customer or an existing user can download the latest software release. This can only be done effectively via Internet.

During the setup phase of CockpitCubeWebInstaller 2.0 the target system is scanned for a number of pre-requisite software. If not found, an automated process takes care of downloading and installing all the missing pre-requisites with minimum user intervention. The pre-requisite software that needs to be installed on the computer prior to installing CockpitCUBE includes: .Net 2.0 SP1, SQL Server 2005 Express Edition SP2, Windows Installer 3.1, Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable package. All pre-requisite software packages are free and are downloaded directly from the Microsoft website. For reasons not entirely clear, Microsoft does not give direct access to the most updated pre-requisite setup packages: this is why at the end of the CockpitCubeWebInstaller setup procedure you will be asked to manually run Microsoft Update in order to update to the latest version of the operating system and the other pre-requisite software.
Only then you can install and run CockpitCubeV2.0.

CockpitCUBE is a sophisticated application with outstanding features (some are a world’s first) that obviously requires maximum attention to installation and hardware setup. Once properly installed it runs smoothly and our customer base maintains that it is surprisingly crash exempt.

The installation procedure is described in every detail, is extremely reliable and has been tested hundreds of times. It installs everything that is needed exactly where it is needed. The installation procedure should be followed strictly and scrupulously, step-by-step. Personal initiative or manual installation/uninstallation of any part (especially of the pre-requisite software) is strongly unadvised, since it could lead to missing or un-updated components of the pre-requisite software which is automatically downloaded by the CockpitCubeWebInstallerV2.0.
